Update and Enhance the Historic Preservation Fund
For more than forty years, the Historic Preservation Fund (HPF) has breathed life into long-untold stories and helped communities protect places that form our cultural identity. Today, we have an opportunity to guarantee federal support for preservation activities and offer financial security to states, Tribes, and communities as they work to preserve our past.
The Historic Preservation Enhancement Act (H.R. 6589) would permanently authorize funding for the HPF, increase its authorization from $150 to $300 million annually, and ensure $300 million is appropriated each year. Plus, enacting this legislation will significantly enhance protection of our nation’s historic resources, ensuring that they remain vibrant for communities throughout the country well into the future.
Join the National Trust in asking members of the House of Representatives to cosponsor and support the Historic Preservation Enhancement Act (H.R. 6589).
